Journal entry 1

Hey guys! So I was thinking of starting something a little new where I just post journals and story's about my life! I hope you guys like it if you do comment below!

Alrighty so here's a fun little story of my first trip into NYC without my parents.  So for Christmas that year I had saved up my money and bought my Pop (grandfather) tickets to go see a Broadway show.  He was about 85 at the time and needs a little bit of help getting around at times.  So I had 2 tickets and so the day rolled around and my brother and dad dropped us off at the corner of 8th Ave and 42nd street.  Now mind you I do not live very far away from NYC whatsoever to the point where where I'm from we just refer to it as "the city".  So it was no way my first time in New York and I know the theatre district- Hell's Kitchen area pretty well.  So we're walking down 42nd street in the direction of Times Square and I guess my pop was in kinda a bad mood because all he kept going on about was how much he hates New York City and saying how disgusting everything was and literally asking me if I had enough vitamin C that day so I built up my immune system.  So yeah a great start, anyway so it was very very cold that day (it was January what do you expect) and my pop had to use the bathroom so he sees the subway station across the street next to the lyric theatre and he goes "let's go look for a bathroom in there."  So yeah he wanted to go look for a bathroom in the subway, He was actually willing to use a subway bathroom, ew.  So anyway we're down in the subway and fortunately he could not find a bathroom, but it was substantially warmer down in the underground so we ended up just staying down there until our show time came closer.  And it was so funny we just stood around and watched all the people rushing in and out, the homeless breaking into the metro card machines, all sorts of fun things.  Then it happened.  This girl was walking towards the steps to the street just like I've watched hundreds of others do that day, she looked a little familiar but I didn't really think anything of it.  She was with a friend and all of a sudden they began to sing circle of life from the lion king, then it hit me that girl was Alysha Umphress!!! I had never seen a picture of her other than when she was in show makeup so I would never of picked her out on the street other than her voice.  And I was blown away to see her there (though looking back it made sense because she was currently in a show at the lyric theatre at the time) and I ran up to her and I just go "omg your Alysha Umphress."  So anyway super amazing and for all who don't know Alysha Umphress is this super fabulous Broadway actress.

Alright so to finish the story after seeing Alysha, we left and went to our theatre and saw the show and afterwards while we were leaving my pop was so unbelievably thrilled.  He was looking at all the lights and saying how beautiful and unique and amazing New York City is, and how much he loved the show and how talented everyone was.  It was a complete 180 from his personality prior to the show and it was absolutely fabulous.  Leading him out of the theatre and onto the street was like a mother pulling a small child who is so distracted by everything around them.  But all in all I was relieved and so happy that he actually enjoyed the show and our day, and now he has a whole new respect for the city and its so cool to have been able to share that with him.

Okay guys so that was a fun little story I thought to share! Like I mentioned before just comment if your feeling these journals if not

DIY wall collage + Frame

Ahhhh! So it's been FOREVER since I posted anything!  So sorry but to make it up to you guys here's a fun easy cheap DIY for ya'll!
Not the best picture quality but for reasons of personal privacy I didn't want you to really see the pictures of me, my friends and my family, but I think you get the idea anyway.  So this is an extremely simple project I was able to put it together in one night with supplies I already had in my home!
THE FRAME
Supplies:
  • Moderate to large size frame
  • Cardboard about the size to fit inside the frame
  • Wrapping paper
  • Stickers/Photos/Quotes/Magazines/ect
So once you've gathered all of your supplies the first thing that your going to want to do is cover your cardboard with the wrapping paper of your choice.  Next your going to decorate and accessorize your board with whatever you want! I used a picture of Audrey Hepburn, the top from one of my Broadway playbills (a duplicate of course), the title page from Lena Dunhams book Not that Kind of Girl , a few of my favorite pictures and some cute flower stickers to make it a little cuter and more playful.  Once your board is all decked out your going to want to put it in the frame and hang it up!
COLLAGE
So this is pretty self explanatory, but all you need for this is a bunch of your favorite pictures and an artistic vision of how you want it to be laid out!  I added 2 little canvas' with Audrey Hepburn quotes on them to kinda mix it up and centered it with my Frame, then for there I just used some double sided tape and went to town!

Finding Neverland Bway Review

So yesterday I went into the city and saw finding neverland on Broadway! I would say there are no words to describe this show but as we know I'm a pit full of words!  The show was spectacular! I have been seeing shows since the age of 4 and I can honestly say that it was my favorite show I have ever seen on the great white way.  Everything from the costume design to the set was incredible.  Each member of the cast had very distinct personalities as they played different characters including the ensemble.  Jonathan Ritter in particular was fantastic as the butler to the Barrie's, he was humorous and by far a standout among the talented cast.  When I saw the show the Llewelyn-Davies boys were played by Sawyer Nunes, Alex Dreier, Aidan Gemme, and Hayden Signoretti. Every single one of them was adorable and friendly and energetic.  While on stage Laura Michelle Kelly is beautiful and vibrant she's equally lovely off stage when I was lucky enough to meet her at the stage door.  I had the pleasure of meeting Mathew Morrison, Laura Michelle, Sawyer Nunes, Alex Dreier, Hayden Signoretti, Jonathan Ritter, Chris Dwan, Mary Page Nance, Melanie Moore, Paul Slade Smith, and Ron Todorowski! Overall the show was a fantastic theatrical experience and unlike any other show currently playing on Broadway.  There is some serious Tony potential hidden away at the Lunt-Fontanne theatre!

Natural Skin Care

Turmeric: Skins long-lost savior

Personally I've had a long battle with acne.  I started getting acne at the young age of only 9.  That isn't as uncommon as it sounds but it has given me a generous amount of time and experience in dealing with acne.  I've been to the dermatologist had the prescriptions, had my fair share of trials and tribulations with drug store brands, but recently I decided to dabble with some more natural and organic approaches.  After doing some research on natural skin care I came to find a very popular and cheap option for all types of skin issues was turmeric.
Let's get started!
All that your going to need is organic turmeric and pure honey of your choice
The next step would be to mix the ingredients together in a small dish.  No specific amounts really because the ideal goal is to form a paste-like mixture.
Once you've got your paste mixture you'll want to put it away for safe keeping.  Therefore find a bottle or container you don't mind ruining (turmeric stains awfully) and fill the container with your mixture.  *i just used an old hotel shampoo bottle*
Use this on your face once daily.  It can be used as a mask or a spot treatment for short amounts of time or even overnight. Apply with a cotton ball or Q-tip for best results!

Mall Finds

Retail Haul

So my wardrobe is very mixed between retail and true vintage, today I'll be showing you some of my favorite retail finds over the past month or 2!
So fair warning I don't really believe in seasonal colors, but mustard is one of my signature colors honestly.  This adorable dress is from forever 21 I believe it was around $30, a little expensive but totally worth it!
This skirt is also from forever 21!  It has this gorgeous crochet detail at the bottom, it's like a light beryl in color. (That took about 7 people at rehearsal to come up with the color)  I purchased it in New York on clearance so I don't have a definite price!

Okay so basically all my clothes come from forever 21.  This ADORABLE blouse is my favorite thing I currently own.  It was $20 but it was 100000% worth it!
I love love love this top.  It's slightly cropped but works fabulously with highwaisted pants or skirts.  I always feel very Audrey Hepurn mixed with a little bit of Twiggy when I wear this top! You guessed it, forever 21.

Hey guys look it's something NOT from forever 21.  I bought this skirt at H&M for $5 on clearance.  I love the pattern it's very 60'!

Vintage Dupes

Retail takes on Vintage Style

So I went to my local mall today to cope out some retail duplicates of some of the 60' and 70' most iconic trends.  Though they are not identical these retail duplicates are sure to give you that classic feel your searching for!
Above is a picture of the beloved Jackie Kennedy in a vibrant yellow suit.  This 1960' inspired duplicate on the right is from H&m and costs around $50.  Quite the pretty penny but still significantly cheaper than a true vintage dead stock version of the jacket.
Hot pants! One of the biggest trends of the 1970'.  Here is just one example of the many different options of hot pants offered at Forever 21 prices varying but all seem to stay under $30!
I instantly fell in love with this powder blue coat at H&m.  It immediately reminded me of classic movies like charade or the 1960' musical comedy How to Succeed in Business Without really Trying.  The price for this coat by my memory ran somewhere between $70-80.  Still quite pricey but still cheaper than buying the real thing! For the classic vogue inspired ladies out there this coat could be the pinnacle of your closet!
On the left is a fashion editorial from 1976 on the right is a dupe top from forever 21.  Being that this springs color trends are lots of cool colors and pastels this top is definitely a mix of new and old style.  I can't recall the price on this item but if I had to guess I'd say under $25.  So for our more adventurous ladies grab your bell bottoms and wedges and rock out to some grateful dead!
